Christmas and New Year Events

The Christmas Singaround will be on Friday 23 December. Bring songs and tunes, some food to share and your own liquid refreshment. Tea and coffee available. There will be a singaround, as usual, on Friday 30 December. Entry free on both nights.

The New Year’s Eve Ceilidh and Singaround on Friday 31 December will be a mix of songs and dances, with caller Chris Davis and a scratch band – all musicians, singers and dancers are welcome. Tickets £1 for club members and £3 for non-members. Bring your own drinks and food to share.

New Year’s Eve ceilidh and singaround

On Friday 18 December the last meeting took place at the White Horse Inn, Trowse, in the upstairs function room. Many thanks are due to landlady Pam and to Andy and the bar staff for all their support for the club in the last four and a half years.

On Thursday 31 December from 8.30 pm there will be a New Year’s Eve Ceilidh and Singaround with members of Shufflewing plus others (all welcome) and caller Faith Masendu at our new venue, the Christ Church Centre, on Magdalen Road (NR3 4LA). The Centre’s large car park is opposite the junction with Waterloo Road, and near the Whalebone. Please bring your own drinks and perhaps some food to share. (The Whalebone will have queues and a one-out one-in policy on this night.) Tickets £5 (£3 members).

On Friday 8 January there will be the first acoustic club night in the upstairs room at the Christ Church Centre. Everyone is very welcome to join us there. Bring your own refreshments. Tea and coffee available.

Summer ceilidh with floor spots on 29 May

On Friday 29 May Norwich Folk Club will meet for a summer ceilidh at the Christ Church Centre on Magdalen Road, just north of the city centre, opposite the Whalebone pub. (Head out of the city on Magdalen Street, past the Artichoke and bear left at the traffic lights where the road forks. The venue is on your right, next to the church.) There will be a balance of songs and dances, with caller Alan Helsdon, and musicians will be welcome to join the core band of Shufflewing members. Bring your own refreshments and perhaps some food to share. Easy parking. Members £2; non-members £3.

On Friday 22 May there will be an informal singaround at the White Horse Inn, Trowse (upstairs function room for this week only). Entry is free and everyone is welcome as usual, whether to listen, sing or play a tune or two. Why not try out some new material in friendly surroundings?

New Year’s Eve

Club members and friends are all invited to join us at our New Year’s Eve ceilidh and singaround at the Christ Church Centre on Magdalen Road, Norwich from 8.30 pm. Shufflewing will form the core of the band and will welcome assistance from all comers, with Chris Davis as the caller. Fancy dress optional. Bring your own liquid refreshment, and a little food to share would be appreciated – tea and coffee available. Entry free – with a grand raffle, if you would like to contribute a prize.
